The newly released IPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 has been tested and it was seen with few minor changes like file sharing through iTunes, Music player (iPod) widgets, closing multitasking apps, screen orientation lock and few more .
The Drag and drop function was the much awaited feature and now allows you to transfer files in both the directions between iPhone and a computer. To use it just plug in your iPhone into iTunes, go to the apps page , scroll down and you can see the drag and drop windows . Of course Apple has not implemented full drag and drop support, which is unlikely to ever happen.

The Music Widgets are the next new thing you will see when you open the multitasking interface, these widgets control iPad options like play, pause, next, previous and open application. I hope this is really one of the things music freaks would love to see.

As we’ve already heard Multitasking has come to iPhone, now it’s time to look into inner details of this service like switching between apps, closing apps etc. To close an app, just hold your finger over the multitasking panel for few seconds and you can see the remove option over each app, tap the
sign and you are done.

Screen orientation was always a difficult issue to deal with when you are in a position of 45 degrees to any orientation, in such a case the orientation can keep changing with even a slight movement from portrait to landscape. The same feature which the iPad uses has been implemented in the iPhone . And thanks to the iPad , we now have a orientation lock in the iPhone .
Few more changes seen in the beta 3 are:
- New animation on unlock screen , a two step lighting of back light can be seen
- The location service now also shows the list of apps used in last 24 hours
- New additions to the X code , many items from the iPad firmware 3.2 are inherited in iPhone OS 4.0
- Now iPhone application developers will be allowed to access the messaging application from within their apps. May be we can see a quick reply or Quick compose
- Quick view which was mentioned as a key note will not be a quickview like MacOS 10.5 but a quick peek at files shared
Such minor changes are expected to be seen often before the iPhone OS 4.0 launches in June. The iPhone OS 4.0 is beginning to have a more finished look and giving a fair chance to iPhone application developers to get ready with their apps before the official launch.
iPhone freaks and iPhone application developers are eagerly awaiting the release of iPhone 4.0 , the whole Apple fan group is very excited about the new innovation from Apple .
