iPhone Antenna Issues : Need A Hardware Upgrade rather than Software

iPhone4_Antenna_660

Users have been reporting from the first day on the iPhone4 reception issues. The iPhone Antenna problems which came in picture when users started losing signal bars while holding the phone from their left hand which blocks the iPhone Antenna (death grip)making signal reception poor and leading to call drops .
Consumer Reports said that iPhone 4s new integrated faulty antenna design is behind the poor signal strength rather being a software issue. Consumer report lab test showed that even a slight finger touch was enough to trigger the problem.
The lab test held by Consumer reports tested three different devices in a radio-insulated chamber (which is impervious to outside radio signals) each of it was connected to a base station (a device that simulates carrier cell towers, something like AT&T towers) and the engineers found that when you place your finger on the gap between the two antennas on the lower left hand side of the iPhone 4, signal strength can drop by about 20 decibels and that’s enough to drop a call. The tests also indicate that AT&T’s network might not be the primary suspect in the iPhone 4’s much-reported signal woes.
There was also a test conducted for iPhone 3GS and Palm Pre, none of them had a signal loss problem like the iPhone4 has. This is a reason why Consumer Reports has not recommended this phone and says you should continue using your previous model (iPhone 3GS) , because this is not only going to degrade call quality and overall calling experience but also going to harm users from radiations which directly come in contact with your palm .

We think Apple needs to come up with a permanent—and free—fix for the antenna problem rather than the software update tests which ain’t going to be better than what the Cases do .

iPhone application developer may leave comments based on their experiences with the iphone4 .
