The Apple iPhone 4 press conference was held just to address the users that the Antenna issues were common amongst smartphones , Steve explained the that other brand devices like the HTC Droid Eris , Samsung Omnia II and Blackberry Bold 9700 also face similar issues when signal gets attenuated due to obstruction by hand and only a few number of users were facing this issue and to soothe all infuriated iPhone 4 customers, Apple is offering a free case through September 30 . While most of the users are satisfied with this other are not .
The figure “30th Sept” brings in new assumptions , is it a new iPhone after that , a CDMA version as said by Bloomberg or the same iPhone4 fixed with the Antenna issues .
During the conference Q & A session reporters asked many questions to Steve-
On the September 30th date, is that to let people know that you’ll have to buy a case?
Steve replied: “We will re-examine this in September and decide whether to keep going, or maybe we will have a better idea.”
A question from Bloomberg “Why Sept. 30 for case limit?”
“We just are going to wait and see; maybe we’ll have a better idea.”
Few other questions were put to Steve Jobs asking if the bumper offer extend outside of the US and beyond September 30th?
Steve replied, “yes, we’ll evaluate!”
Whats the better idea Steve is trying to implement , is it the iPhone 5 , the CDMA version or the same fixed iPhone4
Rumors have surfaced few days back that Apple has already started shipping iPhone 4 with non-conductive coating which fixes antenna issue. If we believe on those rumors then, apparently, Apple found flaw in the design which they have never accepted so far. But, during iPhone 4 press conference, just before closing the presentation, Steve quoted:
“We do this because we love our users, and if we screw up, we pick ourselves up and we try harder. And when we succeed, they reward us by staying our users. We take this really personally. Maybe we should have a wall of PR people keeping us away from this stuff, but we don’t, we take it really personally. So we’ve worked the last 22 days on this trying to solve the problem. And we think we’ve gotten to the heart of the problem.”
Steve Jobs knows very well that iPhone 4 without a phone (inability to make successful calls ) is just a multimedia device like (iPod) where you can only play with apps and to maintain credibility among customers, he has to provide full proof solution for which he has set a deadline of September 30th for himself.
