Apple has taken a further step ahead with iAD for Developers that will allow the iPhone developers to advertise their apps to the millions of iPhone users. Also this will open up the opportunity for the developers to make some money by publishing ads in their apps.
The iAd platform was first introduced in April 2010 in WWDC where Apple also showed off their iPhone 4.0 however the iAD platform actually rolled out on July 1, 2010. The response to this platform has not been up to the mark till now. Finally last week, Apple has rolled out the ‘iAd for Developers’ program, and mentioned it as the ‘second great choice’ for iPhone developers.
Though there is not much information on the program, it has been reported that it will allow the users to download the advertised apps from the App Store without having to close the app they are currently in.
It will also provide the iPhone application developers the scope to earn money from click-through of ads. The application developers would also have access to the statistics that shows the metrics and the revenue they are generating from the iAd.
It is worth a mention that the developers get a share of 60% of the revenue generated from iAd while Apple retain 40% for providing a consolidated platform to them. However the program is yet to taste success as many of the iPhone developers don’t envision much profit from it.
