iOS Security Update to be Released to Fix the Browser Flaw

Apple has addressed the issue of the security flaw in the Safari browser and PDF files. The company has also confirmed that a software update for iOS will soon be released which will fix the problem.

iPhone“We are aware of this reported issue,” said Apple in a press release. “We have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an forthcoming software update,” the statement added. However Apple did not say anything about the release date of the patch.

Earlier it was reported that different versions of iOS are vulnerable for hacking. Security experts have discovered that newer versions of Apple devices, like – iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch can be hacked if the user opens PDF files through the Safari browser. According to them hackers may use this flaw by sending malware hidden in the PDF documents and can access your personal & sensitive data.

The security flaw has been noticed when the iPhone Dev Team has released the latest “jailbreak” app for the iPhone. Previous jailbreak versions had to be installed in the device via a personal computer or laptop. But the new JailbreakMe tool is easy to install and can run on any Apple device by visiting the JailbreakMe.com website using the Safari browser.

The German government has considered the security flaw to be extremely serious and warned their citizens, officially, of the dangers posed by the vulnerability of Safari.

However iPhone application developers are not sure whether the patch will also stop JailbreakMe.com app to function. This is going to be quite interesting as Jailbreakme.com has seen an extremely positive response from iPhone users and while users definitely want their phones to be secure, they might not like the fact if this patch makes Jailbreakne.com non functional.
