Apple devices, like iPhone, iPod and iPad, have contributed in growth in the business of Mac. The sales of Machintosh computers of the Apple has been increased 49% for the quarter ending in June, according to a report of IDC. And the growth is mainly because of the increase in enterprise sales.
The report has also cited a growth in sales of PCs during this period and it counts 15.7%. That’s definitely a good news for all the PC makers, like Dell, HP and Apple too.
Charlie Wolf, the analyst at Needham & Company, has given the credit to iPhone & iPodfor this growth in Mac sales. He has written in a note to the investors on Monday, “[T]he key driver of this growth has been the halo effect emanating first from the iPod and then the iPhone.”
Obviously the iPhone has introduced Apple’s devices to a lot of new users. The demand for iOS apps are ever increasing and also attarcting a lot of attention and business in the iPhone application development industry. The Mac users are increasing with the increasing number of iPhone app developers, as for iPhone app development you need a Machintosh computer. In addition more Windows users have been turned to Mac users for enterprises purposes in recent times, the report has analyzed.
In the first quarter ended in June, Apple has sold nearly 3.5 million Macs, Wolf has mentioned. That’s actually more than the Apple sold in all of the fiscal 2003, Wolf has added. “The installed base of Windows switchers is now larger than the original installed base of Mac users,” he added.
Though it’s too early to take it as a new trend in enterprise sales, but Apple, mostly favorite at homes and schools, now has definitely got a jump start into the industries. However Dell and HP always share a strong enterprise base, and can grow their businesses. But definitely this is a new room for Apple to grow.
