“About iTunes10.5.2
iTunes 10.5.2 includes several improvements for iTunes Match and fixes an audio distortion problem when playing or importing certain Cds.”

The last iTune update that is iTunes10.5.1 brought entire music collection in to iCloud, whether or not music was purchased from iTunes.

Remember that annoying DST bug that was affecting Australian iPhone users’ alarm clocks? Well, now it’s Europe’s turn. The switch from Daylight Saving Time to Standard time happened last night and now many European iPhone users woke up late this morning.

Even though the iPhones are correctly changing the clock time, recurring alarms are not recognizing it. What’s even stranger, is that not all alarms are affected. If the alarm is set for “every day” or “never”, then the alarm will go off at the correct time.

What disappoints me is that Apple knew about this bug and promised a software update to fix it. Why hasn’t it been released yet? Do they plan to fix it before the switch hits North America next week?

To our European readers, did you wake up late this morning because of this bug?

Sometimes, iPhone 4 users are unable to connect because the weak signal strength and most of us blame Apple for its faulty Antenna design. But now, you can put your iPhone into field test mode, which will allow to test your cell signal reception quality. All you need is to update your iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G to iOS 4.1 and then Dial *3001#12345#* into your iPhone.

Eventually, the signal bars will be replaced with a number (like -75). The more negative the number, the worse the signal is. Example: -120 is worse than -75. Once activated, you can switch between signal bars and number by touching on the number.
If you’re on iOS 4.0.1 and jailbroken, then stay away from this update or you’ll lose your Jailbreak and unlock. However, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G users on jailbroken iOS 4.0.1 or lower can install Signal Cydia App (from planetbeing) that displays the real signal strength, data about your cell reception and plots a map of your nearby cell towers. Signal iPhone app allow you to measure or check real signal strength that will eventually help you in taking a decision to switch to a different carrier or not.

The video demonstrates the results, but here they are in all their glory:

- Messages: iOS 4.1 Wins (By a Little)
- Maps: iOS 4.1 Wins (By a Lot)
- Photos: iOS 4.1 Wins (Just Barely)
- Safari: iOS 4.1 Wins (Just Barely)

While the speed advantages ranged from marginal to significant, iOS 4.1 clearly outperformed iOS 4.0. It’s still significantly slower performance than you’ll get from a 3GS or iPhone 4, and we’re still not sure it’s a big enough improvement that 3G owners will want to ditch iOS 3. The most obvious difference was UI responsiveness. The UI didn’t get stuck nearly as much on an interface element or when trying to enter text. If you are set on using iOS 4, the upgrade is worthwhile for that alone.

In late July, Apple acknowledged that it was looking into reports of performance problems for the iPhone 3G under iOS 4.0, and Apple CEO Steve Jobs confirmed late last month in an email to a customer that a software update addressing the issuing was forthcoming.

At last week’s media event, Jobs announced the release of iOS 4.1 set for this week, noting the iPhone 3G performance issue as one of the bugs addressed in the update.

Have users and iPhone developers felt the same difference ? How far does the performance of your iPhone 3G go down with the respective OS’s ?

CanalMX reports on comments from an executive at Mexican carrier Telcel claiming that Apple is set to release a revised version of the iPhone 4 by the end of September to address the highly-publicized antenna issue. Telcel began offering the iPhone 4 in Mexico last Friday as part of a quiet expansion that saw the device also come to the Czech Republic, Greece, Poland, Portugal, and Slovakia.

According to Marco Quatorze, Telcel’s Director of Value Added Services, the iPhone 4 sold in Mexico will initially be the same hardware as that sold in the U.S. and elsewhere, with Apple offering a free case to address potential issues with antenna performance. But he also noted that as of September 30th, when the free case program expires, revised hardware without the reception issues will become available.

The veracity of Quatorze’s claim is unknown, as it is unclear whether a carrier executive at his level would even be privy to such information, and it is possible that he may simply be mistaken in his understanding of Apple’s September 30th expiration date for the free case program. At Apple’s iPhone 4 press conference last month, Steve Jobs noted that the free case program was launched with an initial expiration date of September 30th to provide the company with time to continue its investigation of the antenna issue and perhaps come up with a better solution for future customers.

At today’s keynote event, Steve Jobs announced the upcoming availability of iOS 4.1 for the iPhone and iPod touch. Jobs noted that the long running proximity sensor, Bluetooth, and iPhone 3G performance bugs that have been raised by users will be fixed in this update.

New features to iOS 4.1 include High Dynamic Range photos, HD video upload over Wi-Fi, TV show rentals, and Apple’s Game Center will make its official debut.

High Dynamic Range photos are photos created using 3 separate photos captured in quick succession at varying exposure levels. The photos are then combined using some complex algorithms to create an enhanced composite photo. Game Center, which was first introduced earlier this year, will officially be included in iOS 4.1 and allows gamers to invite others to play, post scores to online leaderboards, and more.

iOS 4.1 will be available next week for iPhone and iPod touch and will be a free update.

Jobs also revealed that iOS 4.2 will be released in November, finally bringing iOS 4.x support to the iPad. The free update will include wireless printing as well as a new feature called AirPlay, which replaces AirTunes. AirPlay will offer streaming of video, music, and photos. iOS 4.2 will be compatible with the iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone.

Update: While Apple’s U.S. and many other sites simply states that iOS 4.1 is coming soon, some international sites such as the Spanish one, as well as the company’s press release announcing the new iPod touch note that iOS 4.1 will become available next Wednesday, September 8th.

Existing second and third generation iPod touch users can update to iOS 4.1 free of charge on September 8 to enjoy new features including Game Center.

Apple has addressed the issue of the security flaw in the Safari browser and PDF files. The company has also confirmed that a software update for iOS will soon be released which will fix the problem.

“We are aware of this reported issue,” said Apple in a press release. “We have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an forthcoming software update,” the statement added. However Apple did not say anything about the release date of the patch.

Earlier it was reported that different versions of iOS are vulnerable for hacking. Security experts have discovered that newer versions of Apple devices, like – iPhone 4, iPad, and iPod Touch can be hacked if the user opens PDF files through the Safari browser. According to them hackers may use this flaw by sending malware hidden in the PDF documents and can access your personal & sensitive data.

The security flaw has been noticed when the iPhone Dev Team has released the latest “jailbreak” app for the iPhone. Previous jailbreak versions had to be installed in the device via a personal computer or laptop. But the new JailbreakMe tool is easy to install and can run on any Apple device by visiting the JailbreakMe.com website using the Safari browser.

The German government has considered the security flaw to be extremely serious and warned their citizens, officially, of the dangers posed by the vulnerability of Safari.

However iPhone application developers are not sure whether the patch will also stop JailbreakMe.com app to function. This is going to be quite interesting as Jailbreakme.com has seen an extremely positive response from iPhone users and while users definitely want their phones to be secure, they might not like the fact if this patch makes Jailbreakne.com non functional.

If you are running Skype on jailbroken iPhone iOS 4 / 4.0.1 with JailbreakMe 2.0, you must be facing lots of issues. Saurik has just released a new update for MobileSubstrate that brings us to version 0.9.3226-1, in order to fix issues in Skype. It readily fixes broken ‘view full profile’, and multitasking (including tapping on the red bar) also works flawlessly.

The latest version of Skype which was released a few weeks back in the AppStore, works well with the native iOS 4, supporting Multitasking. Unfortunately, Jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch users found several problems associated with it. However, by installing updated MobileSubstrate, things will change and Skype will work flawlessly again.

To resolve and troubleshoot all the problems with Skype, launch Cydia and apply updated MobileSubstrate version 0.9.3226-1 on your jailbroken iPhone and iPod Touch on iOS 4 and other linked apps. It sits nicely in the background!

Did you check out the Antenna page at Apple’s website , most of you guys may have visited it but if you go back there you will get nothing more than the some information on the Apple’s antenna design and engineering .

Previously the page was filled up with loads of comparison tests and the signal dropping videos of HTC Droid Eris , Samsung Omnia II and Blackberry Bold 9700 , N 97 mini and finally the Droid X , have a look here . So where are these devices now , they are on Google’s official ‘YouTube’ site – So Apple is criticizing Google devices on its own site .

CNET got a comment from Apple PR on the change: “We constantly refresh the content on Apple.com. If you’d like access the videos, you can find them archived on “youtube.com/apple”

Now the question is was Apple frightened of the potential lawsuits or did it finish its campaigning ? Probably it explained the world what it meant .

While there are users who are happy with their devices and haven’t come across antenna issues while others say they face lower data rates and call drops.

While everyone has different opinions its just a never ending war of arguments and opinions , rather stay away and stick to iPhone application development and get the best apps developed for the iPhone4 .

Many users have reported sluggish performance of iOS4 on the iPhone 3GS , after this information surfaced yesterday that Apple is investigating the slow and sluggish performance of iOS4 on iPhone 3GS , a Neowin reader posted what could be a quick and easy fix and the best part is, it actually works.

To fix this you need to go to

Settings->

General->

Home Button->

Spotlight Search->

 Deselect every option

and this will stop background indexing on the phone. Several users reported that the fix showed immediate results and has also been proved to be a working measure by many iPhone developers ,.

Maybe the fix doesn’t work for few of the devices, it is clearly working for some whose iPhone 3G has become sluggish after the upgrade. It’s a relatively simple fix and there is no harm to the device by testing it out.

Users and iPhone developer’s can test this trick to check up if their device works fine and do let us know your comments on the same .
